Tv & Facebook; How does that affect a self-reliant person?
Self-reliance is basically not caring about any other person's opinion and doing what you think is right. It's doing what's best for one's self and is against imitation. There are some aspects in our modern life, like TV for example, that a lot of people depend on, but a self-reliant person would hate to agree with. Other aspects, like Facebook, allow a person to express his or her feelings, and share their thoughts. That would definitely please a strong and independent person. Watching TV disables people to come up with their own ideas and creativity. Instead, it forces you to sooner or later imitate what's being done or said on it. People watch celebrities from all around the world and are impressed by how they dress, act, or talk. That eventually leads to a desire to imitate others in order to become like them, which is totally against a unique person's will. That limits one's creativity and exclusive thoughts. On the other hand, a social network like Facebook, could help a person to share his own ideas and thoughts. People on Facebook express themselves all the time. They post pictures or statuses that show their individuality and uniqueness. They do not copy others and each has his or her own profile to express him or herself. A self reliant person would definitely agree and like the idea of such a social network because it allows a person to share his or her own thoughts in a creative and fun way, that is definitely against conformity.
